~ OUR POLICY ~

Shocho Cattery is registered with the Cat Fancier's Association Inc. (CFA), the American Cat Fanciers Association Inc. (ACFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA). We subscribe to the breed standards, by-laws and recommendations of these associations. Our kittens come with a Two Year HEALTH GUARANTEE against congenital diseases, three series of vaccines, dewormed against parasites, a five generation pedigree and Certificate of Registration(s) (blue slips) in at least one of these associations. Our small cattery is Negative (-) and tested yearly for Felv (Feline Leukemia), FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) and FIV (Feline Immune Deficiency or Aids) diseases. You are expected to take your kitten to your Veterinarian within ten days of receiving it to be assured it is not harbouring or been exposed to any illnesses or diseases while on route from our home to yours, otherwise our Health Guarantee is NULL and VOID.

It is now our policy to SPAY and NEUTER our kittens prior to leaving for their new destinations. There is the odd occasion that a kitten cannot be altered due to its weight or a male kitten's testicles are too small or have not fully descended. However, if you have purchased one that is not, we will provide you with the slip(s) as soon as we have received proof of altering from a certified licensed Veterinarian.

The health and safety of our kittens is paramount, and that is why we insist you sign an "Adoption Agreement" contract promising NEVER TO DECLAW your pet, provide fresh high quality premium kitten food and water daily, a clean and safe shelter, annual (yearly) vaccines, and most importantly, keep your pet indoors. In your kitten's portfolio you will find helpful information on how to introduce your kitten to its new home, other family pets, coupons for IAMS kitten/cat food and instructions on how to slowly change your kitten's food to a different brand (however, we gravely advise against this and suggest that you wait until the kitten is ready to transfer to adult food, usually around eight to ten months of age).

We are not restricting your pet to a permanent indoor environment - we are assuming you will be responsible and supervise your pet when outdoors with you or a family member through the use of a harness and leash. If you do not take these precautions, we cannot honour our Health Guarantee. Siamese and Oriental cats are extremely intelligent and can be trained to walk on a leash. My sister in Toronto Ontario Canada who owns two of our ladies - a Siamese and an Odd Eyed White Oriental, has trained them both with no difficulty. Contrary to what you might have heard, an INDOOR pet is much healthier than one that is permitted to run loose - and a lot happier!

We do not breed our cats without giving serious considerations to them and the welfare of their offspring. We hope that you will appreciate our concern and keep in close contact with us. The transition from our home to yours can be quite traumatic. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Your new baby will always be very important to us. We wish you and your new family member the very best - long and pleasurable hours together and most importantly, many years of companionship.

We have shipped as far south to Florida , north to Alaska, and
East to the Atlantic coastlines of both Canada and United States.

~ Thank You ~

Although we breed registered purebred Siamese and Oriental cats, we want to stress how important it is to SPAY and NEUTER all pets. It is safe to alter by 4 months of age. Reputable registered breeders of pedigreed cats are not kitten mills! We do not sell our offspring to pet stores! We screen our potential buyers to make sure that our kittens are transferring from our stable environment to another in order to maintain their health, happiness and longevity. Breeding is a NON-PROFIT expensive hobby - we do it for the good of the breeds, to preserve them for future generations, and most importantly, because we love them. We strive to prevent unplanned or unwanted offspring through our selective program of breeding our queens only once a year. Our customers reserve their pet with a deposit and must wait until the kitten is ready to be spayed or neutered. This is why we insist that Spay/Neuter contracts be signed at time of purchase and/or prior to delivery of your kitten. It is intended to clarify both the breeder's and purchaser's rights and obligations. Any violation entitles the breeder, throughout the legal systems in Canada and United States to be able to remove the kitten(s) and recover any legal costs from the purchaser.
